After having completed his studies, Thomas Kohl (Dipl.-Verwaltungswirt) worked as an administrative head for the German Foundation for International Development (DSE), from 1987 till 1992. His areas of responsibility were human resource management, finance, organisation and data processing. Furthermore, after the German reunification he co-ordinated the development of the DSE branch office in Magdeburg.
Since joining the ZEW in 1992, Thomas Kohl manages ZEW's administration. In addition to his work for the ZEW, he has helped in the creation of the Film Academy Baden-Württemberg in Ludwigsburg and of its holding company the Association for Culture and the Advancement of Science Baden-Württemberg (GKW). In 1997 the GKW was merged with the ZEW. The Film Academy became at that time independent.
Since September 4, 1997 Thomas Kohl has been granted general commercial power of attorney and on April 1, 2001 he was appointed Deputy Director of Business and Administration. Since August 1, 2004 Thomas Kohl is Director of Business and Administration of the ZEW.
Thomas Kohl works in several national and international organisations and committees.
