Atilim Seymen obtained his BA degree in Business Administration from the Dokuz Eylül University in Izmir and the Hogeschool Ijselland in Deventer. He received a scholarship from the German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD) and the Turkish Education Foundation (TEV) to complete his master studies in Economics and Management at the Humboldt University in Berlin, from where he obtained an MSc degree. He specialised in Econometrics and Macroeconomics during his master studies, which he completed with a thesis on "Fiscal Policy in a Real Business Cycle Model". He received his doctoral degree from the University of Hamburg with a thesis titled "Business Cycle Analysis with Structural Vector Autoregressions: Four Applications". His main research fields are macroeconomics and macroeconometrics.
