Who quits, who stays? Human Resource Management and employee retention
The
performance of employees is increasingly seen as an important contribution to
the overall firm success. The relevance of human resource management as a
strategic tool is thus also increasing. Besides the positive impact on
individual productivity it can help to retain employees in the long-run. The
aim of this project is to analyze the impact of human resource management
measures on the employment stability within firms. Examples for these measures are
profit-sharing or support for work-life balance. Because they are generally
combined our focus is on bundles of human resource measures. Moreover, we will
analyze the heterogeneous impact on different groups of employees which differ
for instance with regard to education or age. The linked employer-employee data
from the Institute for Employment Research (IAB) serves as an appropriate
database for this purpose.
