ZEW Commitment to Data Protection

Dear visitors, dear users of the ZEW website,

the protection of your personal data and their confidential treatment is of central concern to us, prompting us to inform you about how, to what extent, and to which purpose ZEW collects, processes and uses such data.

ZEW processes your personal data collected as part of the visit to our website in compliance to lawful regulations, in particular adhering to guidelines set forth by the Tele Media Law (TMG) and the Federal Data Protection Law (BDSG).

1. Data Collection

1.1 Fundamentals

The ZEW online services are generally accessible without any requirements pertaining to personal information. Certain services (subscription to the ZEW Newsletter, press related distribution, enrolment for seminars or events etc.) do require statement of person related information. It is left to you whether in fact to use these services.

Minors should not communicate person related data without their legal guardians prior consent.

1.2 Access Protocols

In general, access to the ZEW website is documented. The following is being recorded:

  • access date and time,
  • point of access,
  • user IP-address,
  • internal server information

This information is exclusively being used for the purpose of tailoring our services to your needs. The data is processed anonymously; individual user profiles are not being compiled. The combination of access statistics with databases containing person related information is not possible. The IP address is saved to our records only as a matter of preventive protection from abusive use.

1.3 ZEW Newsletter

In order to subscribe to the ZEW Newsletter you will have to convey your E-mail address. Except for your E-mail address the Newsletter can also be obtained using a pseudonym. The database containing E-mail addresses is stored on a protected server located within the jurisdiction of the TMG. No further information besides the E-mail address is saved, unless it is voluntarily submitted to receive special Newsletter services or to improve our Newsletter content. Access to the server is restricted to a small group of authorised personnel. The data is not passed on to a third party!

1.4 Registration for ZEW Professional Training Courses

Any electronic data you provide for registration will be deleted immediately after you complete your course, unless you expressly agree to receive information about future ZEW events.

2. Third Party Involvement

The ZEW principally refrains from passing on anonymous or person related data to third parties unless with your expressed consent or if compelled by lawful or judiciary authority.

The ZEW website contains links to third party web pages. Clicking on such web links means you leave the ZEW website. These pages or their data protection policies (which may deviate from the ZEW standards) cannot be influenced by the ZEW. We are not responsible for third party web page information or content. Person related data you pass on to third parties is not regulated by the ZEW protection policy. Therefore we recommend to carefully read the data protection outlines set forth by each company before passing on person related data.

3. Cookies

We do not use cookies (small data packages that are stored on your computer) as part of our web presence. You thus have access to all information on our website even if your browsers cookies option is not activated.

4. Security

The ZEW employs technical and organisational security measures to protect the data under our concern from incidental or deliberate manipulations, loss, destruction or unauthorised access. Our security measures are concurrently updated in line with technological advances. Despite these measures and efforts, electronic communication itself cannot be completely secure. We want to inform you that information transmitted voluntarily on the web may be seen by others. Accordingly, the ZEW cannot be held liable to disclosure of information due to errant data transfer and/or unauthorized third party access.

5. Right to Information and Revocation

Should you have submitted person related data to the ZEW you may at any time file have this data deleted. Furthermore you are at any time entitled to request information regarding the stored data related to you.

Along with each sending of the ZEW Newsletter you also obtain information on how to cancel your subscription. Upon cancellation your data is deleted.

7. Changes to the Data Protection Policy

ZEW reserves the right to revise this declaration on data protection in accordance with lawful regulations at any time. In the case of occurring changes we will post the revised version of the declaration on the web for you to always have access to the currently applicable version.
