YES! – Young Economic Summit

How can we find our way through the flood of information coming at us on the internet? What is sustainable consumption? Why is our society so focused on economic growth, and should this continue to be our goal? These are just some of the important questions of our time that the participating high school student teams will discuss as part of the YES! – Youth Economic Summit. On 23 June 2017, around 100 students from the Southwest region will come to ZEW in Mannheim for the regional qualification round.

The participating teams from Baden-Württemberg, Hesse, Rhineland-Palatinate and Saarland will be presenting their solutions to global economic, ecological and social issues and discuss them with experts from the field of economics. This is the first year that ZEW is participating in the YES! project as a research partner. As part of this role, the institute has been using its expertise to help the teams come up with their project ideas and develop solutions. A second qualification round will take place on 6 July 2017 at the ZBW in Kiel, where high school teams from Northern Germany will compete for a place in the final. The winners will be decided by the participants themselves. The winning teams will go forward to the YES! final in the Regionales Berufsbildungszentrum Wirtschaft (RBZ) in Kiel on 28 and 29 September 2017.
