Kai A. Konrad is the Director of the Department of Public Economics at the Max Planck Institute for Tax Law and Public Finance in Munich, and has been a member of ZEW's Scientific Advisory Council for several years.

Professor Axel Ockenfels was appointed new council member. He is a professor at the Department of Economics of the University of Cologne, as well as the founder of the Cologne Laboratory for Economic Research. His main research areas are market design, game theory, behavioural economics and experimental economics.

The Scientific Advisory Council monitors and reviews ZEW's work and plays a significant role in the quality assurance of the institute's actvities regarding research and economic policy advice.
